MENO A’ KWENA

Authentic and traditional

Located midway between the picturesque Okavango Delta and the spectacular Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Meno a Kwena tented camp – meaning “Teeth of the crocodile” – and one of Botswana’s original safari camps, provides a unique African wildlife experience, authentic and traditional. Just 90 minutes by road from Maun, at Meno a Kwena you will discover real attention to detail and service, together with an enormous passion for wildlife. High above the Boteti River on the western boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, the nine luxury tented en-suite rooms are wonderfully located overlooking the river below, taking full advantage of the view with animals coming to quench their thirst, and some of the best wildlife action actually happens right in front of the camp. As the only source of permanent water in the area, camp is perfectly positioned to witness Africa’s second largest zebra migration right in front of the camp during the dry season (May to November), and a rich diversity of wildlife can be seen throughout the year. Activities that can be experienced during your stay include open vehicle game drives into the nearby reserves  – the Central Kalahari and the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, where meerkats and desert adapted antelopes are regularly seen, and lion and cheetah can sometimes be spotted. Take a boat cruise on the river, observe the animals from the floating hide at sunset, or enjoy a fascinating walk with the indigenous Bushmen that will give you an extraordinary insight into this ancient culture and the relationship between man and nature.
