Namibia is a destination like no other in Africa, it is vast and desolate, and perfect for travellers who may have been to other African countries, as it is so different. In Namibia you will experience a magnificent and dramatic destination on this fascinating 11-day journey of discovery. With an intimate knowledge of each area visited, your personal guide will share the local insights and highlights along the way. A vast country, even by African standards, Namibia covers an area approximately four times the size of the UK. Stay at the only camp inside the world’s fourth largest National Park – the Namib Naukluft National Park, with the bonus of being able to reach the amazing colour changing dunes of the Sossusvlei before sunrise, or to stay until after sunset. Track desert-adapted elephants, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Twyfelfontein, ancient rock art and experience an authentic and remote Himba settlement. Enjoy thrilling game drives in Etosha National Park and discover a unique wildlife sanctuary of Africa’s large cats at the Africat Foundation in Okonjima, while learning about their conservation initiatives.
Namibia – an ‘ageless land’, is visible through its heritage of rock art created by stone-age artists and geological attractions such as the petrified forest where fossilised tree trunks have lain for over 280 million years. When added to the space and silence, experience this feeling of antiquity, solitude and wilderness.
Additional activities can be arranged (at an additional cost) for those interested, and include a sunrise balloon flight or scenic light aircraft flight over the Namib Naukluft National Park, and a scenic light aircraft flight over Sossusvlei and along the Diamond Coast, allowing you a bird’s eye view over the dune sea, abandoned mining camps, shipwrecks, Sandwich Harbour and salt pans.
