quintessential safari experience

The largest game reserve in Africa, named after Sir Frederick Selous, an English explorer and big game hunter, the Selous, in southern Tanzania, offers the quintessential safari experience. With more than half of Tanzania’s elephants found here, huge herds of buffalo, hippo and a large number of lions, it is also home to the largest population of the rare African wild dog and more than 400 varieties of birds. Along the Rufiji River is where many of the photographic safaris occur, and activities include walking and boating as well as the traditional open vehicle game drives. This designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its splendid untamed wilderness and diverse habitat, creates the perfect environment for wildlife lovers looking for utter remoteness and tranquility.
